Meet the LV Crayon: La Beauté Louis Vuitton's chic new lip pencil

Less than a year after debuting their beauty line, La Beauté Louis Vuitton has launched its chicest beauty essential yet: the LV Crayon. Ten shades, developed with Dame Pat McGrath, range from chic nudes to a vibrant pink and plum, to the house's signature reds, Monogram Rouge and Rouge Louis — each formulated with peptides, which the brand says smooths and plumps lips over repeated use.

For Dame Pat McGrath, who has shaped the house's beauty identity for over twenty years, a crisp lip liner has always been where it all begins. "Every look that I have created on the Louis Vuitton runway begins with the lip line," she says. "The texture of the LV crayon melts into the lips like second skin. It's creamy, silky, smooth and so unbelievably comfortable... and the best part is, it stays!"

All the semi-matte shades pair well with each other and layer under the LV Rouge lipstick and LV Baume, for building out a full lip — liner alone, or as a base under color.

The Dame's recommendation to get the most out of the LV Crayon? "Apply the liners to lips that are absolutely dry, without even a trace of moisturizer," she says. "Concentrate the smooth color right at the cupid's bow and the center of the bottom lip for maximum impact." McGrath says this technique delivers a long-lasting, bleed-proof finish that lasts well over twenty-four hours.

The pencils, designed by German industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, are objet d'art in their own right. The tactile, multifaceted black matte wood surface is sculpted to resemble the brand's monogram flower — a silhouette that allows for effortless lip definition and is, in McGrath's words, "beautiful to hold." The launch also includes the LV Lip Pencil Case, a folio-style carrier rendered in the house's signature monogram and conceived as a collector's item; a Lip Blending Brush; and a $455 brass-and-Zamac Beauty Pencil Sharpener — which is, by any measure, the most LV thing about this launch.
