Notes From a Makeup Artist: Michele Magnani on the Beauty at Dhruv Kapoor’s MFW SS'27 Show

The starting point was the idea of presence: slowing down enough to notice what is around us. I wanted the makeup to feel natural, instinctive and personal, enhancing each face without creating a mask.
The makeup needed to complement the clothes without matching them literally. The collection was rich in textures, embroidery and detail, so I chose luminous skin and natural makeup, with a graphic accent on the eyes. The result balanced spontaneity with character. During the tests, we refined the shape and intensity of the eye makeup to suit different eyes and keep the look effortless.
"The makeup wasn’t exactly the same on every model; we adapted the shape and intensity to suit each face. The idea was to create a consistent visual language while letting each person’s individuality come through. The contrast between luminous skin, full brows, glossy lips and graphic eyeliner made the look feel both spontaneous and distinctive."

I wanted the skin to look fresh, luminous and natural, allowing each person’s own skin to come through. We added a touch of colour high on the cheekbones. The eyes featured a graphic eyeliner: a semicircle drawn at the outer corner, offering a new way to interpret eyeliner. It was designed to make the eyes look larger and give the gaze a look of wonder. Brows were full and bushy, while the lips were nude and glossy to keep the look fresh.
The key products were Studio Radiance Skin Tint Stick for the complexion, Strobe Beam Liquid Bronzelighter for warmth and radiance, and Lustreglass Lip Tint for the nude, glossy lips. The graphic eye detail completed the look.
The collection explored awareness, transformation and continuity. It brought together softness and structure, ornament and utility, old and new. That inspired a natural beauty look with one distinctive detail to give it character.
